I'll never forget that Valentine's Day,
While
sittin' on my darlins' front porch,
She looked at me with them ole bedroom
eyes,
Lookin' kinda' outa' sorts.
I could tell right away she was uneasy,
And was
a searchin' for them right words to say,
Telling me how much she loved
me,
I was in for one helluva' day!
My heart was startin' to beat faster,
With
anticipation of what would come next,
And was wonderin' if perhaps I should
help her,
With the words she was strugglin' to fetch.
So sure of myself I took a deep breath,
And
before she had a chance to speak,
I said "Of course my sweetheart I'll marry
you",
"We'll set the plans and do it next week"!
With those words my darlin' fell straight
forward,
Smack dab into my outstretched arms,
She had dun' passed out
after hearing my words,
When she came to, she looked very
alarmed.
Well, her face turned beet red and so did
mine,
And I asked what on earth was wrong,
She cast her eyes downward and
began to weep,
Explaining she had been tryin' to say 'so long'!
Damn..I felt like the worlds biggest fool,
And
at that moment, it was quite likely true,
How in tarnation could I have been
so damn dumb,
When all she wanted was to say we are through!
At that point I just had to ask Bobbi Sue,
At
the reason she wanted to part,
I damn near fell over straight
backwards,
When she said, my daddy had stolen her heart!
Now folks, may think this a sad story,
But truly
you couldn't be more wrong,
'Cause this Valentine's Day I'm with her
momma',
And by rights, that's where I belong!
