Look At Your Reflection

Reflection Of A Smile

When the sun sets today take a look in the mirror,
And ask if you've done all you could,
To show love and compassion to someone in need,
Offering a compliment to make them feel good.

Perhaps an old man or a woman you saw,
While shopping and filling your cart,
Did you smile and say "hi how are you today",
And spread the love from within your heart?

Maybe it was a teenager who was sitting alone,
Where you decided to stop for a break,
Did you offer a smile and say "how's it going"?
Or were you afraid you would be running a bit late.

When you stroll through the malls to go spending,
Are you staring down at what's on your list,
Not smiling at the faces around you,
For fear it's too much of a risk.

While you go hand in hand with your loved one,
And decide to take a walk through the park,
You see a single Mom cradling her child,
Did you offer a word for conversation to start?

On the way home from work or where ever you've been,
Did you pass a beggar on the street,
And did you look down at the sidewalk he stood on,
So afraid that your eyes might meet?

The next time you're out just remember the mirror,
That will show a reflection of you,
If you pass on a smile or a simple hello,
The face in the mirror will too.
