Please Rescue Me When I think of the day that little girl, Said "Daddy...can I please have her"? My heart beat so with happiness, Love and kindness for me I was sure! My master drove me to a brand new home, Unlike anything my eyes had seen, At last there was a loving home for me, Where I'd be treated like a queen! The rooms were laid with carpet, And not a thing was out of place, This was truly a puppy's heaven, As my heart begin to race! But wait! Where are they taking me! To a tin shed that sits near the barn, I thought I could stay where it's warm inside, The place that would cause me no harm! What did I do to deserve such abuse, And why have they not brought me food, I'm shivering from the cold and am thirsty, Feeling sick and unable to move. Maybe if I bark it will tell them, To come rescue me from my plight, Alas I hear someone coming, Footsteps in the still of the night! I feel the pain of a leather strap, Cutting its way through my skin, The steel toed boots kicking at my flank, Heard my whimpers emitting from within! Thank God they've left me alone now, So I may think of a means to escape, If you know of folks who abuse animals, Please rescue them for their sake! ~valentyne~ © Old Shep Elvis Presley
