Giving Birth To A Child

Who but a Mother could possibly know,
Love without boundaries for her child,
Who was nurtured and lived within her womb,
In an environment so loving and mild.

Sacrificing many long months of pain,
Enduring the nights filled with worry,
Praying to God that the baby is well,
And for her labour to end in a hurry.

Doctors appointments and ultra sound tests,
Become part of her weekly chores,
Continuing to work and maintain a home,
Hands and knees even scrubbing the floors.

Some days the tears and depression will show,
As the change in her body takes form,
There are nights when she feels like a child herself,
At times wishing she hadn't been born.

As the birth date predicted draws ever near,
A Mothers face will take on a glow,
The love for this child so fills her heart,
Without boundaries this bond will now grow.

How soon weeks and months will turn into years,
While Mother and child are like one,
Sons and daughters quickly learn where to turn,
And will usually confide in their Mom.

Too soon the day comes when they fly on their own,
Leaving behind the grieving Mother to worry,
And soon they will raise a family of their own,
But you pray they will be in no hurry!
