Do Not Give Up On A Child
Whose child is that seen walking the street,
With high heels and painted on face,
See through silk blouse and short tight skirt,
And stockings she wears of black lace.
She appears so mature for the youth she displays,
And from a distance she seems right at home,
But the closer you get and look into her eyes,
You can see that she's very much alone.
Is she one of many who've been cast on the street,
Because of a family who had just given up,
Now alone on the curbs to defend for herself,
Offering her body in return for a buck.
The streets of our cities are filled with lost kids,
Who need love and a chance to start new,
Something that perhaps they were lacking at home,
From parents who knew not what to do.
Couples who decide to bring children to the world,
May not be prepared or even willing,
When the time comes to offer understanding and love,
They fall short and become unfulfilling.
To raise a child up in a society such as ours,
You must be willing to devote all your time,
The examples you set and the guidance you give,
May save them from a step into crime.
When you feel your child has stepped way out of bounds,
And you are no longer able to cope,
Don't set them free to wander the streets,
You will end any chance of new hope.
If a child seems rebellious and unwilling to change,
That does not mean you've done all you could,
Find someone professional to intercept in their life,
The responsibility is yours and you should!
