Disaster On The Sleigh Hill

"Oh my God darlin' get outta' the way"!
I'm headin' straight for ya' on this runaway sleigh",
"And unless my eyes are deceivin' to me",
"You're gonna' end up' flat out on my knee"!

Too bad for Fred, Martha's warnings weren't heard,
As he gracefully flew through the air like a bird,
Amid cheers from grandchildren at the top of the hill,
To screams of bystanders thinking Fred would be killed.

A large crowd gathered as Fred hit the ground,
And he lay there so quiet not uttering a sound,
From a frozen mouth he was able to say,
"Who the hell wath' ridin' that thlay"!?

Just then poor Martha stepped forward to speak,
"You weren't 'spose to sit there you silly ole geek"!
Fred's tongue was all swollen but laughter was heard,
When he managed to mutter, "Don't thay a word"!

The grandkids had now made their way down the hill,
Hootin' and hollerin' for grandpa Fred's spill,
They hugged and assured him that he was the best,
And to blame grandma Martha for that helluva' mess.

Grandpa just grinned and said, "Ith not gwamma's fault",
"It wath mine for bringin' that damn thlay to a halt",
"Next time we come your gwamma goes first",
"I'll stay safe at the top 'cause my thlays a curse"!

Later that night as the kids lay in bed,
They talked and laughed at what grandpa Fred said,
And before saying their prayers and falling asleep,
They gave thanks for the coolest grandparents on the street!
