Could You Qualify For An Angel
Every man, woman, and child on earth,
Were lined
up to apply for the job,
The position to be filled that glorious day,
Was
to be chosen an Angel of God.
Ten questions only appeared on their form,
And a
roar of approval was heard,
Each person thought how simple it would be,
To
jot down a few qualifying words.
Their shouts of confidence soon turned to
dismay,
As they continued to glance down the page,
Scratching their heads
as they wondered,
How on earth they'd ever be saved.
The very first question they read from the
form,
Said 'I am the Lord your God',
"Are you grateful I led you from
bondage"?
And for that, most gave a nod.
Placing no other gods before me,
Read only
second on this list of ten,
But already the crowd was dwindling,
Many
realizing that they did offend.
You shall not utter the Lords name in
vain,
Caused multitudes to take a step back,
The earth was then heard to
tremble,
As its crust did develop a crack.
Remember to keep Holy the Sabbath
Brought
business leaders to their knees,
Making a mockery of this commandment,
And
for this, God was not very pleased.
Honor your father and your mother,
At this, many
tears did fall,
Most of those who applied for the job,
Failed in complying
with this call.
Next, was you shall not commit murder,
Those
words cast many to the ground,
Millions were responsible for killing,
In
their hearts no mercy could be found.
Followed by, you shall not commit adultery,
In
shame many covered their face,
The crowd that once numbered billions,
Now
scarcely a visible trace.
Next came the eighth commandment,
Saying, that
you shall not steal,
Brought confessions of guilt from many,
That fell
back in the ranks and kneeled.
Bearing false witness against your neighbor,
Was
now heard by the remaining few,
The number of those who had failed in their
bid,
Stood to the side, with me and you.
Do not covet your neighbors house nor his
wife,
And by then there was not a soul left,
Which proves when it comes to
commandments,
We have all fallen short of the test.
