A Christmas To Remember
Only one week left before Christmas, And as
usual my shopping was late, Trying to decide how to please everyone, With
something special they all could relate.
As I read all the names written down on my
list, A thought struck me and I realized, That those I was about to shop
for, Lacked for nothing I could ever buy.
For fear of offending my family and friends, I
decided to call them together, A meeting was planned for my suggestion, So
I drafted this special Christmas letter.
When they arrived and exchanged a cheery
hello, I informed them that I had a plan, And as they listened I read
them this letter, With the hope that they'd all understand.
I began by saying we were already blessed, And
that none of us needed a thing, But I had an idea if they were willing to
try, About a family for a Christmas to bring.
I suggested that we all donate money, And go
shopping for those who had none, For a single Mother living four doors
down, Struggling, raising a daughter and a son.
I was relieved when they stood and totally
agreed, That my idea was well worth the doing, The thought of sharing what
we all now enjoyed, A families hope we'd soon be renewing.
The following day at the mall we all
gathered, And were stunned at the sight we did see, The poor little boy
with his sister, Sitting on Santa Claus's knee.
Although we only heard part of their wish, It
was enough to bring tears to our eyes, Their sad little voices asked
Santa, To bring Mommy a Christmas surprise.
Without hesitation we filled up our carts, Gifts
fit for a queen and a king, And on Christmas Eve we delivered them all, To
show Mommy what Santa did bring!
With tears in her eyes she invited us in, While
the children lay asleep in their bed, Explaining how her husband had just
passed away, And the last dying words he had said.
"Santa will remember the children this
year", "Please never give up or lose faith", " Love will come from
strangers to you", "Then he left with a smile on his face".
