Is a child or adult of Down Syndrome, any less capable of feeling or displaying emotions than what you or I display?

The answer to that question is...No.

We all experience happiness, sadness, disappointment, hurt, love, tears, and we all have an inner need to feel loved, wanted, and needed.

As well, most of us have a drive to compete, and be the best we can be in life.

We seek knowledge and have a high degree of curiosity enabling us to try and figure out things, and to wonder about those which we do not understand.

Those of Down Syndrome are no different.

Listed below are 2 links which provide some very interesting and more in depth information on how to better understand Down Syndrome.

Down Syndrome For New Parents

A Child Of Down Syndrome

The Mother held her new born close,
And the tears began to fall,
Her husband placed his hand on hers,
As he stared up at the wall.

A child of Downs had been given life,
And the odds were stacked up high,
That this little baby would survive the day,
While the parents prayed and cried.

Upon leaving the safety of a Mothers womb,
The battle to live was now waged,
Between a heart not fully developed,
Against an amazing courage displayed.

An incubator would now hold this child,
There were tubes and monitor in action,
Because the weakness of vital organs,
Failed in developing to satisfaction.

While doctors and nurses held little hope,
They felt this child would not survive,
The necessary surgery to mend his heart,
But they were in for a big surprise!

Not only did the child overcome all the odds,
With such an amazing display of fight,
He continued to turn into believers,
Professionals who thought they were right!

The days that followed left many in awe,
As this child continued to climb,
Overcoming each medical obstacle,
Until suddenly there were no more to find!

From Heaven Down Syndrome children are sent,
They teach us patience, endurance, and love,
Spreading happiness and joy for so many hearts,
Some just for a while till they're called home to above.

Those who's heart have been touched by a child,
And who've shared and been part of their life,
Will know what a gift that was given by God,
To Grandparents, a husband, and wife.
